The Company
Our client, is an international Swiss technology company and a global leader in highly specialized industrial automation solutions. The company is further developing its digital ecosystem and is strengthening its international IT / digital team with a Requirements Engineer / Senior Business Analyst based in Romania.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of business, product, technology and development teams, with a strong focus on complex web platforms, digital customer experience and integrated enterprise systems.
This position is more focused on understanding business needs in depth, translating them into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and making sure that what is built is properly tested, validated and accepted.
The Role
The Requirements Engineer will contribute to the further development of the company’s digital experience, working on a headless ecosystem that includes the company website, B2B customer portal and several integrations with surrounding systems such as ERP, CRM, PIM, MDM and other enterprise applications.
The person will work with internal stakeholders from areas such as marketing, HR, engineering and service teams, as well as with external stakeholders including distributors and customers. The role will also interact closely with the Product Owner, the CIAM area and the development team in India.
The position reports directly into the international digital / product leadership team and will be part of a global setup. Occasional travel to the company’s HQ in Switzerland may be expected, approximately two to three times per year.
Main Responsibilities
The person in this role will be responsible for understanding business processes, stakeholder needs and digital platform requirements in detail, then translating them into structured and actionable documentation for the development team.
This includes creating user story maps, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and functional specifications that are clear enough to support ticket refinement, development, testing and final acceptance.
The Requirements Engineer will support the full requirements lifecycle, from discovery and analysis to documentation, refinement, testing, UAT and validation. The role will also contribute to change and scope discussions by identifying the impact of new requirements, technical dependencies, risks and potential constraints.
A relevant part of the role will be hands-on involvement in testing. The person will define testing scenarios, participate in functional testing, coordinate UAT with stakeholders and contribute to shaping a testing strategy for agile development. There may also be involvement in discussing automated testing approaches together with the development team.
The role requires continuous collaboration with Product Owners, developers, technical teams, business stakeholders and external users, ensuring that requirements are properly understood, implemented and accepted.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Understand and analyse business processes and stakeholder needs related to the company’s digital web platforms.
- Translate requirements into clear user story maps, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and functional specifications.
- Support ticket refinement together with the Product Owner and development team.
- Ensure requirements are structured, complete, testable and traceable from initial request to final acceptance.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, developers and product teams.
- Support change and scope management by assessing impact, dependencies and risks.
- Participate in reviews, demos, functional testing and validation activities.
- Create and coordinate testing scenarios and support UAT with business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the testing strategy in an agile development environment, including discussions around automated testing where relevant.
- Help improve requirements engineering methods, documentation standards and ways of working within the team.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Senior Business Analyst, Requirements Engineer or Functional Analyst with solid experience in complex software or web platform projects.
The person should be structured, analytical and able to work independently in an international environment. Strong communication skills are important, as the role requires constant interaction with business stakeholders, Product Owners, developers and external users.
A good understanding of web platforms and system integrations is required. The candidate does not need to be a developer, but should be comfortable discussing topics such as APIs, microservices, basic architecture, system integration and data flows. A previous developer background would be considered a plus.
Relevant experience may come from enterprise software environments, digital platforms, B2B portals, customer portals, e-commerce B2B, web platforms or digital / software agencies delivering complex projects for enterprise clients.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
- University degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Informatics or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in requirements engineering, business analysis or functional analysis in complex software environments.
- Strong experience in writing user stories, user story maps, use cases, acceptance criteria and functional specifications.
- Experience with agile development environments, such as Scrum, Kanban or SAFe.
- Good understanding of web platforms and digital ecosystems.
- Practical understanding of APIs, microservices, basic architecture and system integrations.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across business, product and technical teams.
- Hands-on experience with functional testing, UAT and validation of implemented requirements.
- Very good English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently in an international and distributed team setup.
Nice to Have
The following would be considered an advantage:
- Experience with headless ecosystems, headless CMS or composable digital platforms.
- Experience with B2B customer portals, digital experience platforms or enterprise web platforms.
- Exposure to integrations with ERP, CRM, PIM, MDM or similar systems.
- Previous experience in a digital agency or software agency working on complex web projects for enterprise clients.
- Former developer background or strong technical understanding.
- Experience contributing to automated testing strategies together with development teams.
