Operating internationally across manufacturing industries, the organization is continuously investing in digitalization, process optimization, and global IT capabilities. As part of this strategy, Bucharest is being developed as a key Global SAP Hub supporting international operations and complex SAP landscapes.
For the expansion of the SAP team in Romania, we are looking for a Senior SAP Basis Expert, located in Bucharest.
THE ROLE
This is not a traditional operational SAP Basis position focused only on administration and ticket handling. The role combines deep SAP Basis expertise with exposure to modern hybrid SAP environments, cloud transformation topics, vendor coordination, security and authorization management, and continuous optimization initiatives.
The successful candidate will become part of a small but highly visible international SAP team supporting a complex SAP landscape that combines:
- SAP ECC environments
- hybrid public/private cloud solutions
- SAP BTP-related environments
- international users and distributed teams
The role requires both strong technical hands-on capability and the ability to operate independently in an international environment with significant ownership and autonomy.
The position has a strong operational component, ensuring system stability and continuity, but also includes involvement in:
- upgrades and release cycles
- process improvements
- security and compliance initiatives
- SAP landscape optimization
- collaboration with external SAP and hosting partners
As part of a lean international team, the role requires a proactive and solution-oriented professional able to go beyond pure execution and actively contribute to improving processes, identifying risks, and proposing better ways of working.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure daily administration, monitoring, stability, and optimization of SAP systems across hybrid environments
- Manage and support SAP ECC, cloud-based SAP solutions, and related SAP technologies
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, system issues, and performance bottlenecks
- Coordinate and execute transport and release management activities
- Plan and support upgrades, support packages, kernel updates, system refreshes, and client copies
- Collaborate with external service providers, SAP support teams, and hosting partners
- Ensure proper SAP roles and authorization management in line with compliance and audit requirements
- Contribute to SAP license optimization initiatives and access governance topics
- Support integration-related activities involving interfaces, IDocs, APIs, and connected systems
- Participate in SAP-related projects, rollouts, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to operational documentation, governance standards, and process optimization
- Act as a trusted technical expert and support internal stakeholders in understanding system impacts and technical constraints
THE CANDIDATE
- Several years of experience in SAP Basis administration within international environments
- Strong hands-on expertise in SAP ECC / S/4HANA system administration
- Experience operating in hybrid SAP landscapes combining on-premise and cloud environments
- Exposure to SAP BTP, cloud operations, or modern SAP infrastructure concepts is considered a strong advantage
- Experience with upgrades, transports, release management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Good understanding of SAP roles & authorizations, compliance, and audit-related topics
- Understanding of SAP integrations, interfaces, IDocs, and APIs
- Ability to work independently with high ownership and accountability
- Experience collaborating with external providers and international teams
- Strong analytical, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
- Fluent English (C1 level) is required; German is a plus.
