Diversity matters and gender does not seem to count anymore as much as in the past. The latest proof is the election of General Motors CEO, Mrs. Mary Barra, as chair of the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs who lead some of America’s biggest companies and influence policy making on Capitol Hill. When her two-year term begins on January 1, she will be the first woman in the Business Roundtable’s nearly 50-year history to serve as its chair. Mrs. Barra is not at her first time when breaking barriers; when she was appointed CEO of General Motors in 2014, she became the first woman to helm a leading global auto company.
