Our client is a leading player in the European infrastructure industry, with a strong presence across multiple countries and a well-established reputation for excellence over the last 60 years. They work closely with local communities and city councils to provide a high-quality parking experience, ensuring customer satisfaction in key European cities.
THE ROLE
We are searching for a Senior Accountant who will take responsibility for the accurate and timely management of the company’s accounting and financial reporting activities in Romania.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working closely with the Group Finance team in Brussels, you will ensure full compliance with local and international accounting standards, oversee statutory obligations, and support the business with reliable financial insights. You will also coordinate the work of 2 accountants and collaborate with internal stakeholders during budgeting, reforecasting, and audit cycles.
The role is suited for a highly motivated finance professional eager to take ownership of accounting operations while also contributing to broader financial processes and business performance initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Reporting:
- Manage the general ledger, daily accounting operations, and month-end closing.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in line with IFRS and local regulations.
- Maintain and reconcile financial data in SAP S4 Hana.
Compliance & Audit:
- Oversee preparation of tax declarations and statutory reporting.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure compliance with fiscal and legal obligations.
Payroll & HR Administration:
- Supervise payroll operations in SAGA, ensuring compliance with labor and tax legislation.
- Manage related employee contracts and HR documentation.
Budgeting & Forecasting Support:
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets and forecasts, collaborating with operational and project management teams.
- Provide accurate financial data to support business planning and performance analysis.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements in financial and accounting processes.
- Support initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost control.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or chief accountant role. Experience in property management, real estate, facility management, construction, or infrastructure companies is an advantage.
- Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of IFRS and Romanian tax/accounting regulations. Proficiency in SAP S4 Hana and advanced Excel skills.
- Leadership Skills: Experience coordinating a small team and working effectively with cross-functional departments.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities: Accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving processes.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise with local management, group finance, and external auditors.
- Fluent in English.
