QUALITY MANAGER
For our client, a midsized industrial manufacturing company producing metal structures for infrastructure and railway projects, we are looking for an experienced Quality Director.
The company’s operations include metal cutting and fabrication, welding, assembly, blasting, painting and galvanizing.
The role therefore requires a technically strong quality professional who understands both welding processes and the quality requirements associated with complex metal production.
THE ROLE
The Quality Manager will coordinate a team of four quality engineers and inspectors and oversee product and process quality, from incoming materials through production to final inspection and delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise quality inspections for incoming materials, work in progress and finished products;
- Ensure compliance of metal fabrication, welding and surface-treatment processes with applicable standards and customer requirements;
- Work closely with Production and have the authority to stop or block production or delivery in the event of significant non-conformities;
- Identify constructive solutions together with Production while safeguarding product quality and compliance;
- Coordinate the activity related to quality documentation and quality files, supported by an experienced specialist within the team;
- Manage non-conformities and customer complaints, including root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions;
- Lead internal, surveillance, certification, recertification and customer audits;
- Maintain relationships with certification and approval bodies, particularly AFER, ensuring the continued certification of the company and its products for railway infrastructure projects;
- Maintain and continuously improve the Integrated Management System covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001;
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including EN 1090, ISO 3834 and EN 15085;
- Report directly to the General Manager/Executive Director on quality performance, risks and improvement priorities.
THE PROFILE
We are looking for a technically strong and pragmatic quality professional with:
- A university degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, industrial engineering, construction or a related technical field;
- At least 3-5 years of relevant quality experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably metal structures or metal fabrication;
- Solid practical experience with welding processes and welding quality requirements;
- Hands-on experience in QA/QC and production quality inspection;
- Experience in preparing for and supporting external, certification and customer audits;
- Experience working with certification and product-approval bodies; previous interaction with AFER is a strong advantage;
- Good knowledge of EN 1090 and ISO 3834; knowledge of EN 15085 is highly relevant;
- A practical, rigorous and firm approach, combined with the ability to work constructively with Production;
- The leadership maturity to coordinate specialists, make difficult quality decisions and turn non-conformities into sustainable corrective actions.
The opportunity is suitable for an experienced Quality Manager or QA/QC Manager, as well as for a senior Welding Engineer, Welding Coordinator or Quality Engineer ready to assume broader leadership responsibility.
