Location: Mureș, Romania (hybrid possible, on-site presence required)

THE COMPANY

Our client is a well-established industrial manufacturing group operating production sites across Europe, with strong governance, standardized financial systems, and a high focus on compliance, transparency, and operational performance.

The Glodeni site is a production facility fully integrated into the group’s reporting and controlling structure, operating in a manufacturing environment where cost discipline, accurate reporting, and close collaboration between finance and operations are essential.

The company operates with a strong rule-based culture, clear reporting lines, and close interaction between local management and Group Finance.

As a member of Executive Committee the job holder will be responsible to prepare strategic plans, to establish and implement long-, medium- and short-term objectives and strategies for all technical activities. Also, the job holder will be responsible for preparing and executing the operational budget; to ensure that necessary resources are efficiently allocated to achieve the company’s technical objectives, to monitor monthly compliance with the budget, production costs and to establish recovery plans when deviations from budgeted parameters are found.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the financial function at the Glodeni production site. This role is business-critical, with an immediate focus on stabilizing financial operations, ensuring accurate statutory and group reporting, and supporting management during a demanding reporting and investment cycle.

The Finance Manager will combine Chief Accountant–level statutory responsibility with controlling, analysis, and decision-support, working closely with site management and Group Finance.

This position is suitable both for interim professionals (with the option to transition into a permanent role) and for candidates interested in a long-term appointment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Operations & Statutory Compliance

  • Full responsibility for local accounting accuracy and statutory compliance (Chief Accountant level)
  • Signing of balance sheet and statutory declarations
  • Oversight and back-up of daily bookkeeping activities within a small finance team
  • Month-end and year-end closing under tight group deadlines
  • Management of local tax, SAF-T, VAT, and statutory reporting (largely automated)

Controlling, Reporting & Business Support

  • Monthly group reporting using standardized group tools
  • Cost, inventory, and production variance analysis in close cooperation with operations
  • Explanation of financial performance drivers to site management and Group Finance
  • Budgeting and forecasting processes, including data collection from all departments
  • Financial support for CAPEX and investment decisions (payback calculations, assumptions, documentation)

Systems & Audit

  • Use of group systems such as Navision / Business Central, Cognos, CAPEX tools, and production systems
  • Advanced Excel-based analysis and financial modeling
  • Coordination with external auditors and tax advisors (e.g. Deloitte)

Sustainability Reporting

  • Collection and reporting of sustainability and ESG-related data (energy, carbon, production KPIs)
  • Uploading and validation of data in group ESG platforms

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate is a senior finance professional with solid experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, comfortable operating across the full finance spectrum in a small, hands-on team.

Background & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Experience as Finance Manager / Chief Accountant in an industrial or production environment
  • Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax legislation
  • Experience with group reporting, ERP systems, and controlling tools
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working with auditors and standardized group procedures

Competencies

  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and highly reliable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate numbers into clear business insights
  • Comfortable working under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Willingness to be present in the factory to understand operations and cost drivers
  • Clear communicator, able to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Languages: Fluent Romanian and good command of English required
