THE COMPANY: Our client is part of Europe’s largest manufacturer of windows and doors, with operations across 11 countries, employing over 4,300 individuals worldwide, and comprising 28 business units. Established in Romania in 2012 near Târgu Mureș, their industrial area covers around 10,000 square meters and employs more than 130 people, hosting one of the three manufacturing plants of the group dedicated to producing high-quality doors and windows
THE ROLE: As an Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of industrial automation and electrical systems. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize automation equipment, troubleshoot failures, and execute planned maintenance to maximize uptime. Your role will also involve supporting production flow changes, commissioning new equipment, and implementing electrical and automation enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Quickly assess and troubleshoot failures in PLCs, inverters, and electrical control systems to minimize downtime.
- Develop and document troubleshooting protocols to reduce future occurrences.
- Perform preventive maintenance on PLCs, inverters, HMIs, and electrical control panels to ensure long-term reliability.
- Lead projects to upgrade outdated control systems, optimize automation sequences, and enhance process efficiency.
- Implement new software/hardware solutions (e.g., HMI upgrades, sensor integrations) that improve productivity.
- Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and integration into existing automation systems.
- Provide measurable improvements by modifying system parameters and programming to improve efficiency.
- Conduct thermographic inspections and analyse data to identify potential risks or failures before they occur.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to enhance equipment performance and propose automation improvements.
- Maintain and update documentation related to automation system configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards while working on electrical and automation systems.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a problem-solving and detail-oriented professional with experience in industrial automation and electrical maintenance.
- Degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or a related field.
- Proven track record in industrial automation, electrical troubleshooting, and PLC programming.
- Strong expertise in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, inverters, and control panels.
- Knowledge of thermographic inspections and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance strategies and electrical diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and automation schematics.
- Experience in optimizing automation processes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative technical team.
- Basic knowledge of networking and industrial communication protocols is a plus.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) at least at an intermediate level is required, to be able to discuss with suppliers and provide maintenance assistance remotely to clients.
