Reimagining HR: Insights from HR leaders, McKinsey
In a recent article from McKinsey & Company, authors reflect on the rapidly changing role HR leaders are taking amid cultural changes and “the Great Resignation.” By interviewing over 80 CHROs, they found that around 90% predict significant upheavals to the HR industry within the next few years. We believe that the most significant trend is that of pivoting from support to leadership and moving beyond an Ulrich-style separation of tasks. I (Ana Ber) was discussing this outdated model few years ago with one of our clients’ organizations where it revealed that putting HRBP and CoEs roles under one hat (combined role of HRBP and CoE) makes much more sense for answering business’ complexity (and also for increasing HR’s competencies by specialization). Now McKinsey’s article mentions that “Business partners shouldn’t continue to act only as generalists but should instead specialize in certain topics to become content champions, applying their knowledge on a global scale.”
